Paul McIsaac – RCC
Paul brings a wealth of experience in life and business to counselling and finds this to be the most interesting and engaging career of all. After almost 20 years in corporate communications in Eastern Canada, Paul moved to the West Coast where he has been involved in various ventures including sailing, logging, and social work. After seeing the positive effects of counselling on his acquaintances, Paul chose it as a profession. He received his B.A. from the University of Toronto and his M.A. in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Paul is very passionate about Indigenous cultural safety and has experience working with members of indigenous communities. Paul’s approach to counselling is based on CBT, Humanism, and Existentialism. Humanism features an authentic relationship with the client, deep and genuine caring for the client, and the ability to understand the client’s experience and feelings sensitively and accurately. Existentialism is based on the belief that individuals can endure and grow from challenging issues by searching for meaning and purpose in life in them. Paul is particularly interested in working with couples in conflict as well as helping men who are struggling with Anxiety, Depression, Addictions (non 12 step), Grief & Loss, Neurodiversities, and Life Transitions, especially the mid-life opportunity that so many of them face. He also really enjoys supporting men who are looking to explore a deeper sense of meaning & purpose. In Paul’s experience, almost everyone can benefit from counselling, whether to support major change or to simply help with concerns that keep clients from living the lives they want.
